The Bank of Iwate Red Brick Building, built to serve as the main branch for the Bank of Iwate, finished construction in 1911 (Meiji 44). In 1983 (Showa 58), upon the completion of a new Bank of Iwate building, the Red Brick Building became the Nakano-hashi branch.
The design plan was made by the Tatsuno Kasai architectural firm which is also known for designing Tokyo Station. The Red Brick Building is Kingo Tatsuo's only design remaining in the Tohoku region.
In August 2012 (Heisei 24), the Red Brick Building's usage as a bank came to an end. In July 2016 (Heisei 28), after going through about three and a half years of reservation and repair work, it opened to the public as a space used for exhibits, concerts, and special events.

Morioka Castle’s construction was completed in 1633 (Kan'ei 10). In the Edo period, the Nanbu Clan's Kozukata Castle, the predecessor of Morioka Castle, prospered as a castle town. The site is now being used as a park.
We take pride in it being the largest castle with stone wall constructions north of the Kanto region.
In the 300 to 400 years that have passed since construction, the stones in the walls have loosened due to earthquakes and other natural influences. Because of that, there is currently restoration being done on the northwestern section of the Sannomaru wall.

Hachimangu Shrine was built by the 29th Nanbu leader, Shigenobu Nanbu, in 1680 (Enpō 8).
The deity worshiped at Hachimangu Shrine is Emperor Ojin, the 15th Emperor of Japan. Emperor Ojin has long been greatly revered by the people of this region as the deity of human life, including agriculture, industry, commerce, learning, food, clothing, and shelter.
Through the Great Morioka Fire of 1884 (Meiji 17) and many years of withstanding blizzards, the main building of the shrine was damaged. The shrine was rebuilt, and the Hachimangu Shrine that we can all see today was completed in December 1997 (Heisei 9).
As the largest shrine in the prefecture and a place of worship rooted in the celebrations of people's lives, it is continued to be visited by many people throughout the year.

The Tourism and Culture Information Plaza, located within the Plaza Odette, has an English-speaking tourist information center that provides sightseeing information in the greater Morioka area and play guide services. The plaza also has a hall, gallery, meeting rooms, and rehearsal rooms available for rental.

Morioka Theater has two halls and a rehearsal room for theater, dance, and all kinds of musical performances.
There is a main hall used for concerts and public performances of classical theater. The Town Hall is a space where the stage and seating can be set up freely and is used as an open space for rock, jazz, and other various music concerts.

Iwate Prefecture Public Hall opened in 1972 (Showa 2). It was designed by Koichi Sato, an architect known for designing the Okuma Auditorium and the Hibiya Public Hall. The Iwate Prefecture Public Hall initially functioned as the Iwate Prefecture Assembly Hall and was a high-rise structure at the time. It's said that it was a tower from which the city of Morioka could be seen. The sound and lighting systems were renovated and the interior was remodeled, leaving us with the building we have today which consists of a conference room, a main hall, and a gallery.

Iwate Prefectural Civic Center plays a central role in the arts and culture of Iwate Prefecture and is open to the public for a variety of purposes, including music, theater, and meetings. Located on the banks of the Nakatsugawa River that flows through the center of Morioka City, the building has a distant view of Nambu Kata Fuji and surrounding hills such as Iwayama, Atagoyama, and Nanshoyama, and was constructed to harmonize with the surrounding scenery and environment.

Sakanocho is a district that has a history extending from the Edo Period. Presently, 'Hot Line Sakanocho' is located in the heart of a 365-meter-long arcade and is lined with approximately 80 different shops.
You can enjoy various events and, of course, shopping at Hot Line Sakanocho regardless of the weather because of its location from within the arcade.
